The Jason Eddie Story
Billy's Bronze Statue
There is now an official meeting at the statue in April every year everyone is welcome to attend details of the next meeting will be posted on this site. See below for the story on this April's meeting
On Sat April the 19th 2003 we saw the unveiling of our kid's 6ft. bronze statue sculptured by Tom Murphy and now stands proudly in the museum of Liverpool Life on the Albert Dock. This was a very proud moment for our family. It was the culmination of five years fundraising launched initially by the fan club and in fact carried on throughout the world even as far away as New Zealand where our kid still has a growing fan club through the efforts of a special friend of ours Moya Gleave click Here to read more about The Billy Fury Fan Club In New Zealand.
The total cost of the statue was something in the region of £43,000 A massive ask really, but it was achieved through the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. On behalf of our family I would like to say a massive thank you to all of you for making this possible.
On the day of the unveiling there were so many people there that the statue had to be unveiled twice so that everyone got the chance to see it. Below is a picture of the first unveiling

As you can see the event was a massive success.
April the 17th 2004 saw the second meeting at the statue. My Mam and I arrived around 2:30 to join over 100 friends and fans who had turned out to make our kid's birthday meeting another resounding success.

A special guest on the day was Frankie Connor (on the right) Frankie is a D.J. on Radio Merseyside and is also a good friend of the family from way back. I would personally like to thank Frankie for taking the time to spend most of the day with us all and for playing our kid's music whenever he can on his show. Without people like Frankie and yourselves keeping our Billy's name in the public eye "What would we do" Also a special mention to Jenny Warwick one of the main organizers in the fan club for arranging tea and cakes e.t.c. after the meet.

Just some of you all at the meeting.

After the meeting by kind donation of the fan club and Jenny & Jackie in particular we all made our way to the Maritime Museum for refreshments and a chat to everyone. Whilst my Mam was selling raffle tickets as usual raising money for the Heart Foundation and for Billy's Stone Fund, She was called to the front for a special presentation as you can see below (Sorry about the quality of the pictures)

The presentation was a total shock to us all and a wonderful gift from the Fan Club. My Mam is now the proud owner of her very own Billy Statuette. It is something that we both will treasure forever. Thank You Jenny & The Fan Club for your thoughtfulness. It was indeed a very special day. Once again a big thank you to you all for making it such a memorable weekend.
Next year we will meet again on the Sunday as close to our kid's birthday as we can. Please come along and say hello and meet other like minded people in such a nice way. Details will be posted on this site as the date draws near.
