Introduction

Home

Albie Wycherley was born on the 26th of June 1943 in the Dingle district of Liverpool and is the younger brother of Liverpool Legend Billy Fury. Albie first entered show business in 1962 under the stage name of Al Trent working with his band "The Centremen"

Two years later Liverpool comic Freddie Star introduced Albie to the legendary record producer Joe Meek. After that meeting Joe Meek signed Albie and changed his name to Jason Eddie.

Jason's first release for Joe Meek was in 1965 on the Parlophone label. On the 'A' side was a track entitled "Whatcha Gonna Do" with the flip side entitled "C'mon Baby" He went on to release a second single entitled "Singing The Blues" Which became a top fifty hit for Jason in 1966.

This success resulted in Jason embarking on a U.K. tour with some big names of that era namely, The Walker Brothers, The Troggs and The Mindbenders which was a great success.

Due to the untimely death of Joe Meek, Jason did not record again until 1968. Click  here for the discography of Jason's releases.

Unfortunately due to ill health Albie was forced to retire from the music business for quite some time.

He made a welcome return to the stage in 1972 with his new band "The Jason Eddie Sound" and toured extensively throughout the U.K. in various big cabaret venues. After the band split in 1976 Jason embarked on a solo career . He did the first Billy Fury Tribute in 1989 for charity at The Montrose Club in Liverpool click  here for a list of charities that have benefited from his numerous fundraising shows.

Jason continues to do Tribute Shows in the name of his brother Billy Fury in his quest to keep the name and the music of Billy Fury alive and in doing so is introducing younger fans to the music which will in turn hopefully be handed down through generations in time.

His sole ambition is to try and achieve his brothers dream of having a number one hit single.
